Rowena Is Queen There she sits Forever enshrined Rowena is queen Never be mine Procession moves on The ladies who wait A golden gown She radiates Her violet eyes Can’t look away Acknowledgment A holy day Blow now wind From the west My lady rides by I’ll have no rest In the sky Search for signs The raven will fly It’s harvest time O who am I? She’s above me Rowena is queen Eternally

From Afar 03:56
From Afar I have seen you from afar Fascinated by who you are Summer days when the light shines on you Illuminating all you do In the morning when I rise See the world through new eyes Because of you And I’ll be drinking most every night A country inn where the moon shines bright I’ll think about you and dream away And hope to meet you by chance one day In the morning when I rise See the world through new eyes Because of you

Rainy Season Never Ends Out in the rain Steady drops outside Out in the rain Summer just a lie And I don’t know where I’m going And I don’t know where I’ve been But the rain just keeps on falling And this season never ends Out in the rain A late afternoon Sudden memory Safe in my old room And I don’t know where I’m going And I don’t know where I’ve been But the rain just keeps on falling And this season never ends Out in the rain People rushing by Water overflows Rain falls from the sky

Running Through the Fields Running through the fields I don’t know why Running through the fields I don’t know why Head full of confusion burning lights Running through the fields I don’t know why Running through the fields I don’t know why Dancing around the flames on Bonfire Night Dancing around the flames on Bonfire Night Catherine wheel exploding colors bright Watch the flames go higher in the sky November moon keeps flashing, flashing by Running through the fields I don’t know why Running through the fields I don’t know why Head full of confusion burning lights Running through the fields I don’t know why Running through the fields I don’t know why

Guiding Light Please be reassured that my love will be true Wars call me away thoughts return to you Saturdays in summer Picture you in white In my darkest hour Be my guiding light Stay with me tonight Please be reassured that I’ll survive these days Though death may pursue me I will make my way Saturdays in summer Picture you in white In my darkest hour Be my guiding light Stay with me tonight

Watch the Ripples Said you were tired of the same life – the same life Up in the morning fatigue at night – every night You’re riding home the day is done Thinking about the future – what’s to come Standing by the river casting stones in the afternoon sun Sweet consolation – watch the ripples form again End your frustration – watch the ripples form again Thought you were clever, thought you were smart – O so smart Left friends and family made a new start – a new start You’re riding home the day is done Thinking about the future – what’s to come Standing by the river casting stones in the afternoon sun Sweet consolation – watch the ripples form again End your frustration – watch the ripples form again

The Way It Must Be Heather and the morning dew Turn around you’re not by my side Dreams that will never come true Wish away these days my pride Down the sleepless nights, down the restless days – eternally Pray for change to come but I know for now – the way it must be

Bigger Fish to Fry I was walking to the park 5:53 The dog end another day extracts its fee But in truth it didn’t matter much to me I saw lovers on the bridge walk hand in hand Wish I could have defected and joined that band Gone solo – I know alone I’ll make my stand Once number one now I’m shipwrecked on dry land They say lovers look before the fatal leap A common fact I’ve noted on a midnight creep I stood on the riverbank 7:05 Wondered if I was awake barely alive The Eye twists ‘round, revelations going by As John said “there are bigger fish to fry” They say one and one will never equal three Tell me where your reality might be Did you read Lamentations 23? Tell me where your reality might be Staggered back to the Borough 12:20

Faith Healer 03:17
Faith Healer You sang yourself to sleep And missed the Happy Hour celebration You died within a dream Of the imagination The ambulance arrived A siren fading off in the distance The faith healer walked in Offering assistance So dry your dreary eyes for one moment Float up to the skies if you dare His hands reaching out if you take them the faith healer is there You watched him from above And noted how he shook with conviction Took off the rubber gloves Offered his prescription So dry your dreary eyes for one moment Float up to the skies if you dare His hands reaching out if you take them the faith healer is there And so he pulled you through You journey now a dark expedition Renewed your faith and hope In superstition

Travelling 04:00
Traveling O don’t you really want to get away? And don’t you really want to leave today? Trains and planes and traveling mentally Breaking through the clouds gliding on the sea O don’t you really wish for something more? The night sky calls to you beyond your door Pubs & bars black motorcars highways And day gone down that you’ve thrown away Time keeps rushing forward At the speed of sound Like a bullet train Destination bound You wake up one day You’ll wake up one day Realize that time has slipped away There will come a day… So you drift away So you drift away…

about

I started recording "Rainy Season Never Ends" in 2005, about two years after “Rest Your Weary Head” was released. “Rainy Season Never Ends” was the second folk/acoustic record that I made in the 2000s (I released three solo records, "Rest Your Weary Head," "Rainy Season Never Ends," and the electric concept album "1973," over the decade) and the album was released jointly by Green Fuse Records and Vollwert-Records Berlin in 2006. If you’ve stumbled on to the Bandcamp page you are in for a treat as I left off eight songs from the original CD release that have been included here as bonus tracks. The original album ends with the song "Travelling."
